Our Brown Envelope has arrived!
Okay, so I'm posting a week late, but on October 7th, 2006, we received the infamous brown envelope! It really doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know, but it's a milestone all the same! When the USCIS approves us, they send that approval to the American Consulate in China. Then the Consulate sends us a letter saying they've received notice of our approval, and a bunch of forms that we are to take to China with us. This constitutes the "Brown Envelope." We don't do anything with them right now. We just take them with us and they have to filled out before we can bring our little girl home. Seeing as we already knew the USCIS has approved us, the arrival of this envelope doesn't tell us anything new. But for those of us in this long wait, any contact is exciting! (unless it's telling us something is wrong).
